Ramadan 2019: What Are the Fasting Rules

Rules for a Fasting Person During Ramadan

Ramadan aka Ramazan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. According to Islaam, the first revelation of the holy Quran was received by the prophet Muhammad in this month. Ramazan Mubarak is also known as the month of fasting as all Muslim fasts for the whole day (from dawn until sunset). During the fast, Muslims do not consume food, drinks, smokes, and any other food material. We even stay out from engaging in sexual relations as it is not allowed during the fast. We are also instructed to refrain from bad behavior, false speed, abuses, lying, etc.

Who Should Fast?

Every Adult male and female who has reached puberty should fast during Ramadan except women with undergoing menses or post-natal bleeding. Pregnant women/women with small kids can postpone their fast for a later time. They can do the fast when they are physically able to do so.

What are the fasting Hours?

Fasting hours depend on shifts as per the movement of the moon. Islamic associations make a timetable for all 30 days sehri and Iftar timings. You can find the Ramadan 2019 time table here.

Rules to follow during Ramadan

  • You should not enter/inhale anything into your body cavity.
  • You should not engage in sexual activity.
  • You should not involve in immortal acts such as backbiting.
  • Stay away from false talk, bad words, and other activities that are not allowed in Islaam.
  • Discipline yourself morally and ethically.
